Professional Development Programme, 2013

As the Special Assistant to President and Chief Executive Officer of a public-listed company, University Malaya graduate Thavupik has ILTIZAM’s Professional Development Programme (PDP) to be thankful for in his career development.

“What I learnt during PDP were a lot of soft skills and personal development topics that has served me very well in my current job. I am certain that the programme has enhanced my employability by so much more,” said this Negeri Sembilan native.

Among the topics he was trained on while undergoing the one-year PDP included communications, presentation skills, critical thinking and various types of coaching.

“For me personally, the PDP is like a bridge between university and working environment life. It had felt like transition phase for me before I entered the real professional work environment,” he said. His advice to young graduates as well as future PDP candidates is to embrace the English language.

“From my experience, mastery of the language, or at least a good command of it, would go a long way in helping one to join any workforce. My grip of the language has also enabled me to view my duties in a macro and micro perspectives. This outlook has also enabled me to understand and appreciate how I can contribute further.”
